What is Dirt Fest?

Dirt Fest is a gravel cycling event hosted by YFCGRVL at Crabbe Mountain, featuring three route options, a great community atmosphere, and a focus on fun, inclusion, and adventure. It is also the official Velo NB provincial gravel championsip.

Is the event timed or competitive?

Yes, all routes will be timed—but how competitive you get is totally up to you. Whether you're chasing a podium spot, pushing your personal limits, or just out to enjoy a fun day on the bike, Dirt Fest is your ride, your pace.

When and where is Dirt Fest happening?

Dirt Fest will take place on September 20, 2025, at Crabbe Mountain, New Brunswick.

Are gravel bikes required?

Gravel bikes are highly recommended for Dirt Fest, as they are built to handle the terrain. Road bikes will struggle with the rugged surfaces, and mountain bikes can be too heavy and less efficient for the distances involved. Gravel bikes strike the perfect balance for the event.

Are the routes marked and supported?

Yes, all routes will be marked, and aid stations will be available along the way. That said, riders should carry everything they need as they are responsible for their own trailside maintenance and repairs. We also recommend carrying lots of water and a few snacks if you think you'll need them between our aid stations.

Who can participate?

Dirt Fest is open to gravel cyclists regardless of experience level. We do have some age restrictions do ensure that everyone remains safe as the routes can be challenging. The 145km route is only open to those over the age of 19 y/o. The 95km route is open to those over the age of 16 y/o. The 55km route is open to those over the age of 13 y/o, but riders between 13 y/o and 16 y/o must be accompanied by a rider over the age of 19 y/o. If you are signing up with a youth rider between the ages of 13 y/o and 16 y/o, we ask you to consider their experience level and fitness as these rides are meant to be challenging.

What’s included with my registration?

Your registration includes access to fully marked routes, aid stations, a delicious post-ride meal by a local professional chef, 2 drink tickets (non-alcoholic options will be available), a spot to camp for 2 nights, access to the ultimate apres party,  access to our vendor expo, an unforgettable festival-style atmosphere, and more surprises to be revealed throughout the summer. What happens if it rains?

Dirt Fest is a rain-or-shine event! Be prepared for all conditions.

Are there accommodations or camping nearby?

Accepted Answer

We offer unserviced camping on-site at no extra charge, so you can camp at Dirt Fest! Just be sure to let us know which nights you'll be staying with us when you register. For more options, Crabbe Mountain Inn is just a short drive down the road, or you can explore the Fredericton Capital Region Tourism website for additional accommodations in the area.

The idea of a race is intimidating. I just want to ride for fun. Can I still join?

Absolutely! Dirt Fest is all about enjoying the ride, no matter your pace. We follow the "Mullet Protocol"—race in the front, party in the back—so trust us, there will be something in store for everyone. Join us, ride at your own pace, and soak up the good vibes!

How much does registration to Dirt Fest cost?

Early bird registration fees are $95.00 + HST for the 55km course, $105.00 + HST for the 95km course, and $115.00 + HST for the 145km course. Riders have the option to pay for additional meals (prices are included in the registration form), but this is completely optional. Rider insurance coverage is also mandatory. If you are the holder of a valid provincial cycling association membership, you are covered for this event and will be asked for your membership number. If not, you will have to purchase coverage for $10.00 + HST when registering.

Are e-bikes allowed?

E-bikes are not permitted on course during Dirt Fest, as it is a timed, competitive event. We want to ensure a fair experience for all riders.

What is the refund policy?

Dirt Fest by YFC GRVL is a non-refundable event.

Can I transfer my registration to another rider?

Accepted Answer

Transfers are not guaranteed and will be completed at the discretion of the organizers. Approved rider transfers may be allowed before a specified deadline. If you are looking to transfer your registration, please reach out to us and let us know who you would like to transfer your registration to.

Can spectators come to watch?

Absolutely! We encourage friends and family to come cheer riders on and enjoy the festival atmosphere. If they're interested, we'd also love to have them as volunteers. Reach out to us via our contact form to discuss volunteer opportunities.
